Low Voltage Faults Due to Short In-City Trips?

I don't know if it's the fact that I live in Miami, but my wifes 328i never had this issue. She is a police officer and the car remains parked 4-5days a week, and when it does get driven it's only a local drive... 07 with 19k miles.

The X5 "turns off" the cigarette lighter immediately, so it cannot be used for charging.
