Keyless Go ----> Keys Locked in Car
Anyone every experience this?
My wife yesterday was using my car while I was at work with her GL550. She put her car keys to the X5 in her shoulder bag and put the bag in the backseat of the car. The car did recognize the keys in her bag and unlocked as soon as she grabbed the rear door handle. As soon as she closed the door, the doors locked by themselves. She dosent recall closing the door by the door handle which has the little sensor for locking the doors but Im suspecting thats what happened. Nonetheless... the car is supposed to reconginze if the keys are in the car and not lock from the outside. Has this happened to anyone? |

I've read a post by someone couple of years ago when same thing happened...also the keys were in the bag on rear seat...
I have CA as well, but always keep the keys in my pocket, never in the bag.

I recently posted this on a thread on BimmerFest where others have had a similar problem. This is how Comfort Access is supposed to work.

FWIW both instances I've read about being locked out by Comfort Access (including the one described by the OP) involved the key being in a purse placed inside the vehicle and when the door was closed the X5 was locked with the key inside. AND in both cases, the door being unlocked and locked was NOT the driver's door.
Note: Without Comfort Access the only way you can unlock a passenger door is to have previously (or simultaneously) unlocked the driver door. Funf Dreisig Last edited by FunfDreisig; 11-11-2009 at 12:46 AM. |

FYI. I recently learned that if the keys are too close to a comfort access enable car the car will not sleep and the battery will drain.

Does anyone know what the range is for Comfort Access and key detection?

As far as being locked out, my CA put the 1-888 bmw assist phone number in my cellphone for when/if I get locked out, they can unlock it remotely. |
