Order status just jumped a few steps

I went to check the web site assuming the same old info but this time it has gone from scheduled for production to at prep center. Wow! How did that happen? Has anyone seen a case where the status went back? Meaning went back from say at prep center to scheduled for production? Just trying to figure out if this is bogus. The phone still says scheduled for production with no confirmed date. Thanks in advance.

In the last few days, my order status went from "On Order" to at the "body shop". When I contacted my CA, he told me it should be another month before I take delivery.

Seems kind of odd to me that it would take that long since my estimated completion date is next week.

Thanks for the quick reply. It appears some CAs have more info than others. My CA also keeps insisting that my car will be build in late November yet the web site claims it has already been built! Lets hope the web site is right! Although I doubt it very much. It has never shown the correct spec for me.

My est. production completion date went back and forth by one day but that is the most it ever changed. good luck and enjoy.

Just checked mine and did the same thing. Web site was @ Scheduled For Production as of yesterday and is @ At Prep Center now. But I knew it was BS before because the 800# which is known to be more accurate, I've been following already told me when the car was in production, in paint shop, then was finished on the 11th and now has been released to the carrier for transport for the past couple of days. Called my sales guy today and he said that the car has been released for the past couple of days but has not been actually shipped until today, which in his mind puts it @ the dealership early next week. Said to plan for delivery late next week. Ordered 10/19 in MD.

I ordered on 8/31 and took delivery on Tuesday. I doubt you will really appreciate it unless you wait at least 6 weeks for delivery.

Lets hope it won't lead to a divorce. She already is complaining that I spend too much on this. I told her I would get bored with it soon. I fibbed

Congrats! Just be easy on the gas when you take delivery I ordered a few days after you. My case is the opposite of yours. The phone has never moved off the scheduled for production status while the web site just jumped all the way to at preparation center. BMW with all their big guns can't get a straight forward process to work! Will have to follow up with the CA tomorrow.

Always talk to a person at the 800 number if you don't want to bother your CA everyday. At least the 800 number people won't know it's you day after day.

Yeah! I don't want to annoy the CA too much he has been great so far. Tried the phone too several times. The last time I spoke to customer relations, they claimed the car "may" have gone into production last Friday but they couldn't say for sure. I was referred back to the web site. Sounds like one big conspiracy. I know everyone goes through these phases but I am not handling this waiting thing too well. The last time I bought a car, it took a couple of hours from beginning to end! But then I was lucky to find what I wanted at the lot.
