Mine is now at 18k and I got the warning to refill the diesel exhaust fluid. It was replaced at 11k. 7000 miles seems too soon. It has been below 23 degrees F for a couple of days. Maybe the main tank is frozen and heated one is low. I'm going to drive it tomorrow when the temp will be in the 30's and see if that helps. BTW it's scheduled Monday for some more fluid. I've been driving it normal no "spirited" driving.

This was my biggest concern when ordering the Diesel, based on the doomsday scenario. I'm going to stock up on this stuff.

Urea is relatively easy to make, and it's produced naturally by our own bodies. In fact you'll usually see Urea/BUN levels with standard kidney tests.

It should last a good 10k miles. It's not new technology, actually, but I doubt the techs in the US are completely familiar with keeping the system properly running. It will take them a few years to dial it in, as with any new technology, I'm sure.

It has a shelf life, so I would be careful about stocking up on the fluid. It's the same for Mercedes, BMW or any other car or truck. You should even be able to find it at truck stops. 2010 model tractor trailers will have to run urea. Why pay for it under warranty? Let the dealer fill it...

just had the 9xx miles warning on mine as well, but have only gone 1060 miles. Warning went away on restart. I wonder if there is a problem with the pump from main tank to heated tank, or as someone else suggested, a bad sensor? It is above 32 degrees today...

Among the other quirks, the idrive shows your oil level but no engine temp and no urea level. Seems these are two things to keep an eye on... Bet it could be added through programming since the car is tracking both through existing sensors.

Cannot tell you how annoyed I am that there is no engine temp gauge on the diesel... just amazing.

I agree 1,000%. It really irks me that they have that stupid MPG gauge instead on the U.S. models, when for approximately the same cost or less they could have had a temperature gauge there, as apparently some markets receive.

I'm annoyed they don't put the temp gauge on the gas versions also in the US. In cold Minnesota, I always use the temp gauge in the winter to tell me when I can drive the car normally, until it warms up, I will baby it a bit.

I have 18k on mine now and got the won't start message. I just got back from the dealer and am still getting the warning message. It now says that I have about 750 miles to no start. I called the dealer back and the SA said that it should reset in about 20 miles. It's about 50 miles from the dealer to home and it's not reset yet. I tried to start it 3-4 times in the garage, but i still get the message. I'll drive it for a while and see what happens.
