E70 Rear Entertainment System

I was able to secure the OEM monitor and the DVD player...does anyone know what other parts I need? Seems like, I need a power unit for the monitor...

Any assistance would be helpful.

Is this the factory one, or the original accessory option?

If its the factory rear entertainment system .... I think you're going to find this is way more complex. The car is going to require coding ..... and I doubt you will be able to do that if it was not installed at the factory.

This is the factory one. I don't need it coded...I will be running this as a standalone.

I think for you to hear it through the trucks speakers you'll have to get idrive re-coded so you can have the Aux Rear function (mine came with it from the factory).

Does the DVD player have a MOST connector? If so, it sits on the MOST bus. Therefore when it initilizes it will talk to the other MOST devices on the bus (i.e all the other Media systems within the car). If its not coded, it won't work.

Thanks everyone, but I'm planning on using an aftermarket DVD through an AV interface...the only issue I'm having is how to power up the screen.....

Why go through all that trouble?? You will have a very hard time trying to get the screen to work with an aftermarket dvd player unless you have all the wiring diagrams etc. Even then you want to use the aux input for sound so you will have to set the stereo to aux - meaning you can't have two different sound sources up front and in in the rear anyway...which is the way the oem setup is.

Since you already have the screen and oem dvd player, install everything like it should be and just get the dealer to code it for you. Then you can switch the source to rear dvd or use the oem headphones!

Why try and work around the way it should be done...unless of course you don't have nav!?
