First problem with 10 X5 3.5d... Water on Pass floorboard.

So, driving home last night wife took off her shoes and is like "floorboard is all wet". It was soaked. drenched. I assume all the insulation underneath it is all wet as well. When I push on the carpet water gushes up through the holes in the carpet made for the mat velcro retainers.. Sure hope its not going to stink like mildew eventually.

Going to bring it in to BMW first thing tomorrow morning. I'd like to push to get the actual carpet and insulation replaced, but it appears that it is all one piece drive and passenger and I don't want them to tear apart more of the car to fix the problem.

I tested the window (common problem with vapor barrier on other cars) and didn't see anything dripping underneath.

Just pissed. Brand new car.

A thought since you are in Florida....

The A/C evaporator is usually on the passenger's side and extracts quite a bit of water from the air which must be drained to the outside. Perhaps this drain was either not installed properly or has come undone, etc.

Please post back when you get it resolved. I'm sure I won't be the only forum member who will check their passenger side floor mats today

Yea, it is really really soaked.. not sure how they will prevent mold and everything from going on under there. There is *alot* of insulation which I fear is saturated.

Actually think it is the AC evap drain which is causing the issue. The carpet and padding is wet all the way up the passenger side transmission hump by the center console. So, I don't think it would be possible for it to be a vapor barrier on the door to cause this. Or the sunroof drains since they wouldn't cause water to be up by the center console.

I actually have the carpet all raised and a fan blowing on it now to try and dry it out. Going to dealer first thing in the morning to hopefully get it resolved, but will take a long time to dry all that out.

You can't remove the carpet since it is once piece for driver and passenger and goes under the center console.

I had the same problem, and it was a clogged (actually "kinked") sunroof drain hose. Mine was soaked just as you describe.

They ended up replacing the carpet and padding/insulation. If it makes you feel any better, all seems fine now - no musty odor or any residual issue. I don't recall them having to remove the console or seats - if they did, I couldn't tell when I got it back.

The only problem was getting the replacement carpet - it took weeks to come in, perhaps because I have the less popular tobacco color. Didn't bother me, my x5 is two years old and I was provided a real nice loaner. You may feel differently since you just took delivery. Good luck.

I would say it's the sunroof as well. If not, I've heard of the windshield wiper fluid leaking as well. I bet it's the sunroof drain. Let us know what they find...
