Configuring new 2010 X5 35D Questions
Vermilion Red Metallic $0 Saddle Brown Nevada Leather $0 Dark Bamboo wood trim $0 Cold Weather Package $1,250 Premium Package $3,400 Rear Climate Package $900 Sport Activity Package $2,200 • Adaptive Drive $3,500 Technology Package $2,800 3rd row seat $1,700 Roof rails $100 Running boards $300 Smartphone Integration $150 iPod and USB adapter $400 First question is regarding the third row seats. Does it still add an extra 300 pounds? Second question does the third row seats add the self leveling- or is that completely gone? The only reason to order the third row for us the 2nd row adjustability, but the price and extra weight makes me want to just order the space saver instead. Finally, I am happy to take any critiques on this order. Pretty much the maximum we want to spend, so take that into consideration. Thanks! |

If you don't need the third row, don't get it. I have it and use it rarely (my kid's friends). I would rather have a spare so I could have more tire options when my OEM RF are done.
Smartphone integration seems pointless as you get bluetooth already. Just my .02 |

I love the fact that the back seat is adjustable with the 3rd row. From what I remember, the self leveling suspension still comes with the 3rd row option.

self leveling?..... I have not read anything about this on the diesel. Any more info? I thought these were just in the v8 models.

Regarding iPod adapter, according to most accounts (incl. mine), you won't be able to charge your iPhone 3GS or the latest gen iPods. Issue is with apple changing charging voltage on these devices. It works fine and delivers fantastic sound quality but won't charge my iphone. Something to look into. Several threads on this.
Also, if you decide not to go for the 3rd row, consider going with RFT and no spare. The extra space is great. You can easily fit three sets of ski boots or a good deal of luggage. It comes nicely finished. You've got it all on this car. Why not comfort access? I love it! |

And, well, comfort access just puts us over budget- the sport seats seem really comfortable though... |

Appears to be a crap shoot. Mine was delivered 11/21. I went down to the dealer and tried another one which also didn't charge my iPhone. It is possible that some of the 3GS's came with the older firewire charging voltage (12v). Hard to tell why this is happening. I would expect either none or all charge. Glad yours charges.

3rd row seat is a waste, in my opinion. I have it, and it will hold adults in an absolute pinch. I have self-leveling and adaptive drive.
Cold weather is useful, but do you really need it in Portland? Maybe save the cash and get the aerodynamic package instead? Just a thought... You have the same car I do. My iPhone works fine. Have both the 3G and 3Gs in our family. They both work fine via the USB Ipod Adapter, in terms of charging. |
