anti-glare mirrors?
I seem to recall when I first took delivery of the vehicle (with premium pkg) that there was a slight blue tint to the side mirrors that helped with headlight glare from vehicles behind. I don't see that on the mirrors anymore. Getting a loaner 3-series today I saw the slight blue tint again and it reminded me. We are supposed to have the blue tint right?
EDIT>> listed as auto-dimming mirrors.

make sure the sensors are not blocked (I believe they are on the inside's rear-view mirrors, but I might be wrong...)

^ hmm I have one of those longer convex mirrors covering the inside rear-view mirror completely to solve blind spots. I lose the digital compass but apparently I lose more than that if that's true. The blue tint is not a special film that should be visible anyway?

there is a little sensor (looks like a dot) on the top center of the rear view mirrow that senses headlights behind you. Since you blocked it, the mirrors won't dim (turn blue) since they won't sense the headlights behind you.....

thanks, I see the blue tint on my loaner in broad daylight... I will remove the convex mirror to check that everything is at least working properly.

No blue tint during day on the e70. The mirrors are clear (non-tinted)....

if you have the mirror setup correctly (with the correct height), you don't even have to take your eyes off the road to see any cars in your blind spots because it will be in your 'peripheral'. You know what's around you and where at all times. These aren't some stickies, they sell them as complete replacements, and they work... that's why. Oh the other reason - it's slightly taller too so I can see my kids in the back.

The 'blue tint' is an electrochromatic gel sandwiched between two layers of glass. Apply voltage and the particles in the gel turn, gradually causing the mirror to appear darker. If the sensor on either side of the mirror gets blocked, they won't function correctly. The one on the front of the mirror detects daylight. Block it and the mirrors should turn dark (during the day) because the car thinks it's nighttime.
