Picking Up My 4.8i today / PLEASE HELP!

The dealer has been holding by X for 2 weeks until today to give me time to decide if I want to take it or wait for the TT V8 engine and since we still have no clear indications of when this might happen, I am inclined to go get my 4.8.

Questions:

1. Do you think it's worth waiting to see what happens at the Detroit auto show (and lose the one I odered in the process)?

2. Since this will be a long term car for me, maybe its better to stick with a NA engine anyway?

3. If I do go get it today, what are some less obvious things to check are working properly?

TIA

how problem-prone are turbos in general?

As for 3) http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x3/...checklist.html

I'm loving the TT V8 in my X6, it's a beast. BUT......how long are you willing to wait? I imagine if they put the TT engine in the X5 it won't be until the 2011MY.

At most, April or May 2010. I can't wait until the end of the year.

The beast sounds great, but weren't you saying in another post that the gas mileage is about 12.5 in the city? That's another consideration here.

I wouldn't wait unless you were certain it was going be released and available for the spring.

Cannot count on it.

2010 production line went up in October. I find it hard to believe they would ditch that in 3 months to update it for 2011s. My 2 cents.

I'm down to 12.1 now, and that's city/hwy combined. But I'm heavy on the pedal, I only got high 13s in my E70.
