God forbid you actually turned the cruise on, without being aware of it, which is incredibly easy to do on the X5 due the cruise control's proximity to the turn signal stalk.

no offense taken... i did read the manual, but havent memorized it. I know how to work the cruise control, but the extra credit stuff comes in time. Thanks for the hint on reading the manual...

I like the auto-hold feature in certain situations, especially as one poster noted in San Francisco's steep roads.

Autohold sounds quite handy on hilly roads with a manual transmission, but I must admit I haven't seen much utility with an automatic. I guess I'm just use to keeping my foot on the brake at stop lights and stop signs and don't even think about it any more after all these years.

Yeah, the manual also specifically says to never adjust your seat while in motion, have anything in the back which is not secured with straps or a net, or to drive on unpaved terrain.

I think reading the manual cover to cover is one thing.... and using the features at the appropriate time is another. The latter only comes if you are open to de-programming yourself and trying out the new features.

Yeah, some of us are just a bit set in our ways. I tried the auto hold for a couple of days and all I seemed to get out of it (living in a flat area) was the need to press another button every time I started the vehicle.

I don't go by the book myself but just wanted to point out what could be dangerous, and also takes away from the driving pleasure. Folks are a bit touchy, eh, its just the beginning of the year
