Aero kit and Painting all Plastic price

Went to a local shop recommended by BMW and they gave me a price of $3000.00. That includes painting and installing the aero kit, & all black plastic around the X painted silver like the body. What does everyone think? Does that sound right? I went to a few places and this shop seemed to be the best priced and have the most experience with BMW's?

Another question that I have. What do you think of painting everything silver? I know its a personal preferance but I just wanted some feedback. Is it a waste of money? I have not seen an all silver X with the aero kit fully painted silver. Looked at the search but no luck.

$3000.00 includes painting the rest of the X also. F/R bumpers, side steps and door moldings as well as the kit.

I would do a Pshop and see for yourself.... I for one like the contrast of the kit against the black bumper..... I would have them paint the bumper first.... then put the kit on. I believe the price is on par with what people have posted on here.

It is tempting -- but they have to be a very good shop to match that silver properly. They will need to put a flex agent in the paint which makes matching the paint even more of an art. It's possible to do it and have it look good, but like I said, it has to be a good shop so don't go looking for the best bargain.

If you leave the black trim -- then you have a break point between the aero kit and the factory paint so if the color is slightly off, you wont really notice.

I have an aero kit on the way. I really want a tow hitch and the accessory catalog says that the rear aero kit is not compatible with the tow hitch. I'm going to try it anyway. I figure if they have to cut the factory bumper... what's the big deal with cutting the rear aero kit too? With the right pinch molding it can still look like a nice clean job. I just dont know if there are any fasteners right there where the tow hitch is that would make the kit sag or something. TBD.

I did the custom paint for F/R bumpers, running boards and all moldings in White and also added the factory OEM tow kit. Body shop only did a couple of simple cuts in the aero kit to make it fit. Looks great.

higx....PM your e-mail address and I'll send pics.
