I believe they got rid of the knob resistance with the '08+. Have you had a firmware update? That might do it.

I have had a firmware update and mine's a 08. Maybe it's because mine's a European version
I don't mind the knob resistance, but not sure if the difference in resistance/turning point between up and down is normal. The dealer near me doesn't seem to have older idrive for me to try out. |

Does anyone know far the knob in an older iDrive system turns either way forced? It feels like it turns right or left as long as there's some sort of force to it.
