Close to pulling the trigger on 09 3.0 . . .

Hey everyone, NEWBIE here. I'm close to buying and '09 3.0 18k $47,000. The truck is pretty loaded with : prem, tech, cold weather, rear climate, third row, and confort access. The truck was originally $50,900 and went on sale for $47,989. They offered me about 500-800 less on my trade compare to others but came down to $47k even for x5. It was also a corporate fleet vehicle. IMO, 18k in 11 months is a lot of miles, and what exactly is a corporate fleet vehicle ? Also what are the major issues that affect the '09's ? I know I've read something on here about cold weather piston slap noise. And also "too sensitive accellerator" but I think it was for 4.8's. Are there any others issues 09 owners are facing with their vehicles ? Any input would be greatly appreciated . . .

I would steer clear of it with that many miles. "Corporate Fleet" vehicle can mean many things, but the one thing it means for sure is that those 18K miles were put on it by driver(s) that did not care in the least about its long-term operation, e.g., probably "driven hard and put away wet."

3.0s are known to suffer from throttle lag. also, you could probably find an '08 4.8 for that price. BTW, i have little or no issue with sensitive throttle on my 4.8.

do some more research. here specifically.

Less than 6 to 8k more and you'll get a new vehicle, warranty, new iDrive-which for all intents and purposes might as well be a different system all together, and a car with higher resale value, due to the iDrive, as well as better financing rates, the color and options you want and a plethora of other things.

What truck? Oh, the x5....

an 09 with 18k miles- probably hard miles- should be $10-12k UNDER original INVOICE price. MAX

They are trying to move a fairly high mileage/short time car, with an unknown driving history...if this is a BMW dlr, have them do/add in free
CPO. Even if you don't keep the car long enough to get "into" the CPO extended coverage, it pushes that dlr to show faith in the car, and the CPO is "worth" a few thou, theoretically. if it's not a BMW dlr, I wouldn't even bother pursuing.

As previous posters pointed out, several drivers, (potentially), drove the crap out of it and parked it "wet", which may or may not bode well for longevity issues and reliability over time.
