Forget the 3.0, you're going to regret buying it. Get the 35d (diesel) and work out a good price. It's a far better option. At $46k, you're going to walk off the lot having purchased a used vehicle that should have been depreciated, but really was not, and end up owing more than it's worth! Again, you're getting a vehicle with an atrocious iDrive interface, that was completely modified for 2010 bring it from one of the worst interfaces in the business to one of the best. It was so bad, that people held off on their purchases just to get the 2010 with the new iDrive. You're getting an engine that is not in demand, especially on the used market, and will be even less so in the future, and you're overpaying to a large degree. It's not a good deal, and throwing in running boards which cost $300.00 retail (or $150.00 for them) is nothing more than smoke and mirrors to make you think you're getting a better deal. If it was such a great deal, what's it doing on the lot? Why didn't someone else snatch it up? Go for a new 2010, 3.0 and with the better financing rates your payments are going to be very close. Or, stick it out and get the diesel. If you need to save, it's worth saving 6-months to get a new 2010 35d, over the used 2009 3.0. Lastly, a facelift is rumored for the 35d, as is a slightly larger and more efficient engine (rumor is the key word, but they come from good sources), so to me its a no brainer. If you're buying this for business, the IRS may also carry over the accelerated 2010 depreciation rule that was put in place in 2009, which could save you tens of thousands on your taxes, depending on how you run your operation. All things to consider. In the end of the day, you'll probably be getting a good vehicle, but you're going to be out of a warranty in 30k miles, and faced with buying one and having the car certified, which all together is going be be around $3k. So already, you're losing 20k worth of benefits in warranty and maintenance. It's a bad deal at the price they're asking. Get them down to $40k or less, and you'll be closer to what I think it's worth. Again, go to Ebay, and look around. You can get a 4.8 for the price you're willing to pay from a reputable dealer, most of whom will pick you up at the airport and give you great service. My repeated thoughts. |
