replica 214 review

I've put 2,000 miles on my replica 214's and Yokohama Parada Spec-X tires and there are definitely pros and cons over the stock 18" 209 star wheel (with non-runflat Bridgstone Dueler H/L Alenzas). The pros are that they look better and corner better. The cons are that they are slightly louder, get 1-2 fewer miles per gallon, are not quite as good in deep snow and the wheels curb easy. The biggest difference is that the 18's feel much lighter, as if they're not there. I personally prefer the feel of the 18's but the 214's look too good to take off.

On a side note, I think I will probably list my factory wheels and tires on ebay but I don't know how much to charge. The wheels look new and the tires have less than 100 miles. What do you think would be a fair price for the set?

Where and how much did you buy the replica's from? I am trying to decide on tires since not too many places sell the combo to begin with..also I will have to order the TPMS separate

As far as the 18's if you want to move them quickly at a decent price on ebay you can probably get 500-750 on ebay?

can't comment or recommend on price for your OEM set. as for the reps did you get the chance to weigh them to see how much they weigh? also why would they be easier to curb? less rubber probably right? You just need time to adjust to knowing you dont have that extra cushion anymore

yea definitely let us know where you purchased them from. I'm afraid of ordering replicas in fear of receiving them bent during shipping or poorly manufactured causing vibration problems.

1 to 2 MPG is very significant on a vehicle that only straddles the 20MPG line.

I'm only getting 16mpg mixed with my rep 214s. I've always wondered if that was a huge factor... didn't have the stock 19s long enough (nor out of break-in) to really get a good read then. Actually I'm not even past 11k miles now. Anyway, still would rather have worse gas mileage than keep the 18s or 19s.

And as for a reference, I sold my stock 19s with little mileage for 1200 (Michelin Latitudes).

Not bad but that equates to >$1k a set aren't there sets out there for <$1k shipped?

I think there was a prior thread that questioned whether that seller above was selling oem rims... stating they are made from the same factory, etc. Still I don't think you can call them OEM so you're taking a risk at replicas anyway for the higher price. I don't recall what came of that.

Replicas from here are < $1k even after shipping which is usually a big deal. I had mixed results from them though... had to give them a few tries to get good rims.
