After changing the wiring loom from the crank sensor to the Engine Management Unit, problem still exists. Today they changed the Engine Management Unit. 1 day programming and testing and hopefully all should be OK.

Fingers crossed !!

Quick heads up. Engine Management Unit has been changed. No difference. Let the games begin !

They replaced crank sensor on mine yesterday (despite me telling them that is unlikely to solve based on your experience...) They now have the car for a couple of days... just a question is it really acceptable to allow a complete stranger to drive your car including weekends at their will to replicate a problem ? What happens with insurance ... ? I have a pissy 118 new loan car.

A couple of days I wish. This is ending on week 2. Granted I have a new 523i. But yes I think we no other choice but to allow them to drive it and replicate the problem. After all its an intermittent fault. The hardest to find.

Now I know my car back to front. If it comes back with scratches etc then I will kick up a stink but have to trust they are actually driving it to help us

Anyway, they are now going to get some guru from BMW Australia to look at it. Even though I have the 5 I miss my X

It's Sydney vs. Melbourne then.. I don't have a great deal of confidence in my team though... So BMW still think it's electrical issue ? They will have to trace through all items that could kill the engine... I'm sure there is a finite list...

Any Update?

Any update on a resolution to the random neutral and power loss issued described? I'm just starting to have the same issues...

Wow. Quite a dead thread.

DO wonder what happened to those guys.... james talked about 'selling soon', back in 2012. Last post by kman was around then as well

CRUD, I was reading through this thread as its the ONLY thing remotely close to my transmission shifter issue that I can find...
My shifter started making 'extra' noises, and now it makes NO NOISES and will not move left to activate Sport/Manual mode. e70 2012 X5 50i.

These guys just disappeared?? Did BMW "silence" them??

Anyway if anyone else has any idea on MY issue HERE
Please chime in at that link above... THANKS

30amp fuse in trunk fixed my issue in my e70 4.8 black 30 relay in trunk

My car was shifting into park and neutral with dsc and brake light .

We thought it was the gear in the transfer case and nope was the relay

@Hack213
This is exactly what my car is doing. I apologize, I know very little about cars, and when I took it to the dealership they were very rude and waived me off when I mentioned the forums re: this issue.
Can you please clarify which fuse it was? I know you said the 30 fuse in the trunk, but the 30 fuse in my X5 is in the front of the car and is for the Central locking system.
I appreciate any guidance. I would love to be able to fix this and hope you still check these forums!

TY
