My 2008 X5 30sd was doing the sudden no power change to neutral then stall completely. Wait a minute restart runs fine for a week then same again always when power applied to drive away or speed up into motorway traffic. Car showed no code other than boost pressure. After much checking of transmission and vacuum hoses it was nailed down to a failing high pressure fuel pump. New pump and all fuel rail sensors the car is back to perfect running, no more issues. Lousy Aussie high sulphur poor quality diesel damages the pumps quicker than elsewhere in the world. Now only use premium diesel. The pumps are expensive with no alternative to same part number, very specific to model for correct pressure.

Keep in mind that BMW Service Center guidance for consumers states: "If the fuel pump fails, tell the customer "This is due to the poor quality fuel in [fill in your country]" We here the same crap about US fuel. BMW makes and offers a car for sale in a particular market. It is THEIR responsibility to design a ca that can be operated in that market using fuel available in that market. Period. |
