Cant offset the price of diesel fuel? I am getting about 500 miles per tank and averaging over 25mpg. Plus, diesel is the same price as regular in So Cal. I think I am more than making up for the cost! Especially since I talked to a guy who just bought a 4.8 at the gas station. He was only getting 15 mpg. So he has been filling up almost twice as much, and paying more each time.

Your situation is different than mine. As I said, diesel is more expensive than 93octane gas by me, and I don't put enough miles on my X to see the benefits.

Everyone's situation is different.

UK prices

petrol £1.12
diesel £1.14

That's GB Pounds per litre which equates to about US$ 6.60 per US gallon for petrol !!!

still waiting ..... I bought my 35d in Dec so also a little pissed that the dealer was not so open about the pending 40d despite my research telling me otherwise .. still .. I agree that in the real world driving there's nothing substantial ...but I am wondering now if the 50i would be worth the money now ..I might take an x6 50i out to see what the engine performs like in terms of sound/acceleration etc etc .... I didnt like the 4.8 so much as it just sounded too 'V8' like over a turbo engine ..but the 50i may be different? Also going to the new 35i from my current 35d just may not be worth it in the short term ...
