I did the same thing...traded my X5 after less than a year for an M3. I also really liked the X5 but just didn't love it (nor did I enjoy washing it), yet I still worried that I'd regret selling it. That turned out not to be an issue at all. I LOVE my M3!!

To the OP, good luck with the M5.

I can't give up my M3 but wanted the X5. So I just sold my wife's car and bought her the X5. Now I have the best of both worlds.

I think the X5 is fantastic but comparing it with M3s and M5s is apples and oranges. These vehicles are in completely different categories.

That's the way to go.

And I agree...they are completely different animals. I had a 2004 E46 330i and a 2006 E90 330i, then thought I was ready to move to a larger/higher vehicle and bought the X5. I really did like it and thought it was a beautiful vehicle (search for my thread where I posted pics) but I started to get the itch to get back into a car. Then I made the "mistake" of test driving the M3 and I was immediately sold. I plan to be an X5 owner again someday...hopefully it will be my wife's car and I will be driving an M!

Haha I wonder how many people have accidentally test drove an m3 and drove away with a devilish grin and white knuckles. I have intentionally avoided test driving an m until I know I am ready to buy one! I wouldnt be able to walk away, i just know it. Congrats on your m5 hope it suits you well

It was at Irvine BMW. In Dec. with their holiday promotion ($2500) So the total deal was $17,500 off. Interlagos Blue / Silverstone Perforated Leather / Aluminum trim / Fully Loaded / $102,300 sticker price.

Wife walk-in at the WRONG time, I almost pull the trigger...

Funny how wives prevent trigger pulling. I was about to buy her a brand new X5 last year and she intervened and prevented trigger pulling

Ended up buying her a used low mileage X5. More money in my pocket

The Charleston branch of Hendrick had a M5 Black on tan with a manual for 78K! It has since sold, but what deal for a 100K car!

I have a few things left...

-carbon fiber roundels F/R (the rear one had to be custom made, it cost me $50 to have it made) - both for $35 plus shipping.

-RAD wheel locks. Made specifically for the X5. $35+ shipping

-BMW Weather Tech floor mats F/R. These mats have the BMW logo font on the side instead of the standard red Weather Tech logo. -$60+ shipping

Everything is SOLD! Thanks everyone. I hope you all enjoy your items.

Thanks to everyone who helped out with ideas and advice over the last few months. This will probably be my last post on here unless I venture into an X again.

See ya!
