Steering Wheel position

Hello X5ers,

Is there a way to stop the steering wheel going back or forth everytime I start and stop ? and stay where I want it. It is very convenient feature but I am worried that it going to break one day because of too much wear.

I think it's something you can set on the iDrive. I don't have my X yet but I recall being able to do that on my old e92

I would not worry about it... When it breaks, there you go - you have it fixed in one place

It does not appear, from reading the manual, that the feature can ne turned off. For a feature like that, you need to get a Ford Taurus.

You could turn it off on the E53, but no go on the E70. I really wish I could turn it off.

I agree. I wish there were a way to turn it off. It's a silly feature, at least it's silly if you don't require it.

Can't think of any reason why BMW would not include an "off" switch for this specific feature. Maybe there's some type of security component to the steering wheel moving into a specific spot when the vehicle is parked?

Who knows...

You can't turn it off in iDrive but if you are worried about it wearing out you must get really stressed about turning the steering wheel or pressing any of the pedals, they make lots of stuff move

Under which menu/area? I've looked and cannot find it.
