What year and what measurements? The actual tip size (they are oval) or the bumper opening?

I have a x5 3.0sd, can I take the plastic away to make bumper opening bigger in order to install quad tips?

E70 - 2007-2009 the opening measurements.. where the bumper opening is the actual size of the oval tip.
