How to see kids in the backseat at night

Lately I have been transporting my kid in the evening with X5 but I have difficult seeing him at night. If i turn on the light, then the rear view mirror will automatically dim so I still can't see him.

Does anyone have any tip or trick to see the back seat at night?

Thanks.

CloudZ

they sell little pod nightlights at Target that are battery operated... stick em on your seatbacks.

I guess I would get one of these little mirrors you can stick on the big mirror - so you can see at an angle. It may give you more glare from other traffic, but you would be able to line up the mirror to see your kids face, and still be able to remove the mirror when he is not in the car.

What do you need to see so badly, it's not like he's going anywhere...pay attention to the road.

to be honest, i don't know why you can't see them at night unless the road is completely dark other than your headlights. I can see mine just fine. Also have a larger convex mirror that replaces the original so it is taller.

Can always turn off the auto-dim feature by applying a small amount of tape to the auto-dim sensor which is located on the rear-view mirror. I've done this, just for fun. The auto dim is a bit aggressive if you ask me. I have no problem, operating the SAV without the feature, and given that it's so easily bypassed, you may want to consider it.

Thanks for the tips and suggestions. I have young sons, a baby and toddler, that sometime makes strange noise while in the car. I want to be sure they are not doing something stupid even though I don't leave anything in the back seat. My older son just learn how to open the rear door using the lever. We were surprised. Fortunately, I already disable the door being opened from the inside.
