93k mi.....ditch or switch?

My independent mechanic is getting desperate, looking for bigger $ jobs every time I see him, which was often to seal up all my 07 oil leaks. Now I have a whiny transmission and I'm facing a valve stem seal job. Everything seems to be pointing to getting rid of the 4.8 and getting an '11 or switching brands. Has anyone had the whistling tranny? I'm locate to drop $7500 on this car.

I have witnessed a few cases of whistling ZF and GMs because of installed aftermarket tranny filter that doesnt have not enough flow.Could be something else of course.

It's scaring the crap out of me. Mechanic says UNLESS the tranny is leaking you're fine. Valve stem seals alone will run me $2500. Intuition says go get a 2011 and be done.
