Break and Lunging??? X5 08' 4.8

Hi guys,

I tried to search this forum before I posted but came up with zilch...

I've recently noticed my car lunges sometimes when I am coming to a stop. It's almost like it's trying to shift gears or getting rear ended. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a SIB on this? My car just got out of the shop for a wiring harness replacement and the SA said to keep an eye on it and call back if it continues.

Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem. Yes, there is a software "fix" for this (it's supposed to fix some of the other issues with the transmission as well).

While I don't think the fix is a 100% success (I still have shifting issues) it appears to have solved the problem you're having.

Thanks for the info Texas5! Do you recall what the software fix was? Was there a SIB for it?

It's somewhere in this thread.

I still notice the lunging after the SIB update. But it's usually when the car is loaded with more weight. It's decent when I'm driving by myself.

Thanks MTECH8!

I believe this is the exact issue I am having with my 4.8. I will call my SA to get it fixed!

You guys are great!

I am taking my truck in tomorrow for service and planning on getting transmission SIB done. I noticed that your SIB 24 00 33 is different from SIB enclosed in linked thread (24 06 08). Are they two different SIBs?

They are different but I'm not exactly sure how. I believe 24 06 08 is the transmission update and 24 00 33 is the for the braking issue I had???

I'm sure your SA should be able to tell you the difference.

Sorry for the vague response.
