Resolution: Michelin RFT warranty case

This post is just to document the outcome of my tire reimbursement case with Michelin - a classic road hazzard case (big bolt.) Today, I spoke with Michelin and verified that they covered it at 100% cost, around $300 (I only had 3500 miles on the tires - 2010 x535d.) I still expect a bill from the tire shop for installation etc.. Michelin told me they did it as a goodwill gesture. Others (ard) may say Michelin made a mistake by including an old warranty. In any case they honored the warranty.

I should add that the tire shop would have repaired the tire had the puncture not been so close to the sidewall. Michelin states in the warranty that these RTFs can be repaired in "most cases."

Lastly, a big thank you to the members. I knew about this warranty even before I took delivery of the vehicle. I would not have otherwise read the warranty stuff on the CD.

Can you give us the full history and if you bought the warranty, etc?

Post 7.

Due to a screw up by BMW, some of the 2010 diesels actually were delivered with the wrong tire warranty. In an astonishingly unusual move (in terms of customer service) Michelin is honoring the warranty that came with their product, even though it was incorrect.

When you think Michelin, you think 'stand up'...at least in this case. Smart move, IMHO

Thanks I missed that one. There was an SIB issued not that long ago regarding tire warranties. I'm sure I posted the info.
