3000 mile report and couple of questions!

3200 miles in 2 months. Everything is perfect. (knock on wood!) Diesel clatter is LOT smoother now, yes it has smoothened.

One funny thing is power output and engine is lot smooth when I operate by very top of gas pedal.

I love the sound, suspension, steering and road feel. Wanting to keep driving it all the time.

Just wanted to post even if nothing is wrong.

Couple of questions -

1.DVD play in the front is very low in volume. I need to bump the volume, when I switch to radio it is very loud. Is there any setting ?

2.Map lights (little reading lights) doesn't have glass or plastic cover, is it just me ?

3.Didn't get premium sound, so what is there inside those grills next to side mirrors ?

Thanks for reading.

I take a stab

1. No idea
2. I think this is normal, no cover
3. Speakers are in there. Premium sound has more in the rear doors and D pillar

This is very typical of a turbocharged engine. I had the same issue with my Subaru Legacy GT and the Acura RDX. My 35d acts the same way. Once you find the sweet spot it really flies.

I think there are separate volume levels stored for all systems, Phone, CD, and DVD. If you set the audio it should stay consistent for any particular device.

Not just you, they are all like this.

I've heard some people say there are no speakers in there for non-premium sound. Unfortunately I have premium sound so I can't tell you for sure.

Anyone else know the answer to question 3?

Later

Congrats, and glad you are enjoying your Diesel. BMW and MBZ make amazing diesel engines!

I have read on other forums about people saying (expecailly on the X5) that if they push the tip of the gas pedal...the car is smoother, faster, shifts better.

I do not understand how on earth that can matter. Whether you push the gas pedal at the tip, or at the base....it's the gas pedal. I would love a logical (and real) explanation how this can matter. It baffles me, honestly!!
