Why couldn't a valet lock it? Push the button on the dash and hop out, does that work? I have CA and will try it this afternoon.

Also, this is a great carjacking feature. I mean, they will get away with the car but the next time they want to start it....SOL.

That does not work on any BMW regardless of Comfort Access or not. Tried it in my X3 from the passenger side and it only unlocks.

You are correct. When a door is open, it will not lock.

Unless you want to climb out the back hatch. It will lock with back hatch open. Then toss your key in the back and shut the hatch. Bing, you are stranded.

I had to pick up my car from the dealer after hours and that is how they left it for me. Showed up with spare and was on my way.

I believe it should not lock the back hatch should it detect the key in there. It should pop back open. Maybe just with auto-tailgate?

I'll have to test the locking function with CA... I believe one time I touch-locked the driver door while the passenger was still open... it locked the passenger door and set the alarm upon their close (just like it sets the alarm only after the rear hatch is closed but doors can be locked before that). Have to test the passenger door thing to be sure.

Yup, this is how it works. If you have the key with you, you can lock any door while other doors are open and once all doors are closed they will lock and the alarm will be armed.

I know that I can trick my non-CA 325xi to run without the key, but as mentionned, no restart.

That works when the car is off and key is in range, but we are looking for a way to lock the doors when the car is on and then turned off with no key around.
