Leaking Coolant

When my wife left on Saturday, I noticed a little puddle in the garage where the X lives. I touched and smelled it and it'd definitely coolant.

Even this morning, it was leaking when I pulled out of the garage. I can't seem to find anything with iDrive where it shows the coolant temp or level.

And I saw an old thread from last year about radiators cracking and being backordered. Anyone had this problem lately?

I think 08 3.0L had an issue where the radiator had a leak (search the forum, I think I read it somewhere).

Took it in on Tuesday and I got it back today. They had to replace the radiator and installed new rear brake pads.

Had a nice 328i coupe as a loaner. Not bad.

Cost: $0.00

New rear PADS??

Just pads? Since when does a BMW dealer not replace rotors too?

The invoice said that the rotors were in spec.

When they did the fronts late last year, they replaced pads and rotors.

Well, when the owner is paying, they make the argument that the "recommended practice" is to replace the rotors too, since it is probable that the rotors will be under spec by the next time the pads wear down to trip an error or need replacement.

Ask them if they will inspect the rotors for free to ensure they don't go below spec.

Personally I replace parts when they are worn- rotors, pads- and I inspect them independently. But I do find the policy on this to be someone elastic at BMW, depending on who is paying and who is writing the work order...
