Both are styling choices that I definitely wouldn't prefer on the 2011.
headed to Europe probably....the aluminium roof rails are a seperate option for germany at least.....in line with what everyone is railing about above.....bmw NA sucks!!!

I can't remember the person who did the job for the E53 X5... let me find out...

Found it! For the E53 X5 Carol was large and in charge. Here you can see she is in the power position standing over by the driver side (making sure no doubt that someone didn't install a wide-angle mirror on that puppy). For those with good eyes, you'll notice Rhonda who was just a wee little youngin' getting trained; here she is making absolutely certain this US bound X5 didn't get out of the factory with a forward camera system. Big Rick is on the back end examining for a rear view camera and Jimbo was responsible for rims, but is instead reading the sports page. As this US X5 left with a set of Individual rims (style 152) Jimbo got in a heap of trouble. BMW would have let him slide had this been the 499,999th X5, but since it was the 500,000th and the photos were sent to the big bosses at BMW AG (where the photo was made into a company mousepad handed out to every employee who successfully completed the PDFAOCT (Please Don't Fuck Around On Company Time) workshop), old Jimbo was canned and he now works in Toyota's prestigious Prius brake system development division.
Wrong! This particular E53 X5 was bound for a customer in Europe. You did not read the press release. Rhonda and Carol are making sure it has all the options.

While I loved the handling of both my E70 3.0si and 4.8i...the quality and problems I had with both, was actually ridiculous! Before that, we had about 7 or 8 Made in Germany BMWs, and seriously NOT one issue (no battery problems, electrical glitches, peeling interior parts, bad HVAC, etc...).

When I took delivery of my new '08 4.8i...one of the high beam lights (brights) was not even connected. The battery would drain, or be very low if the car sat for more than 1 or 2 days! Seriously!? Sometimes one must park at the airport for a few days (or even weeks)!

My 3 Made in Alabama Mercedes were almost as bad as the Made in Carolina BMWs. The part manufacturers in Germany and Eastern Europe are just a little better, and the work ethic in Germany is just different from the USA (and honestly, most other countries in the world, maybe except for Austria, Switzerland, Sweden....). I try not to say "never", but I cannot see myself anytime soon buying another Made in USA BMW. I've now spent almost 3 weeks in my new 2010 750i, and the quality is LEAPS and BOUNDS better than any X5 we've ever had (including my beloved 4.8is E53). Also, knock on wood....NO issues with my new 7 Series. With the X5s, the first month of ownership already included service visits and lots of warning lamps!!

Rhonda's job description keeps expanding to now include making sure NOT ALL electrical wires are connected, just MOST of them! Come on Deutsch100, you really want ALL the wires connected in your car?! Don't you think you're asking for too much?!

I'm curious to know what was the dealer's/BMW's response to the malfunctioning high beam? Let me guess, you were told that you are using the high beams more than 2.356 times per mile which makes one of them go into a sleep mode, therefor, there's nothing wrong with the car, and it's your fault once again. Right; how close am I?

I wonder how many of those 4000 new parts and options will be unavailable at the time of production due to supplier back orders and supplier production issues.
