Also be prepared for a turbo 4 cylinder sound. The 50i strangely sounds much better than the M.

I think X5M is overkill in the states personally. X6M is ugly. You already have a great sports car. Going skiing, you'll want snow tires, etc. Go for the X 5.0.

Not that I own one but driving fast on country roads and desolate highways is as American as apple pie and nuclear weapons. Go with the x5m. I personally do not like the styling of the x6(m). Throw some winter tires on there for the ski trips and try to get over the fact that your two ton plus truck is faster than your bond mobile.

Having lived on the autobahn and driven on race circuits I really don't know what you mean by "pin the throttle." Speed limit is 65 anywhere in the US and the roads are pure shit. While that car is perfectly comfortable at 100 mph, that is also a big ticket, serious points, maybe suspended license and impounded car, possibly jail and could even be a felony, certainly if something happened. So overkill, most definitely yes.

I suspect 4.4TT would be just fine but if you want a little crazy in your car spend the extra money to get the X factor.

I have driven on the autobahn several times. It is a wonder piece of road. Half the time I was doing 240kph. The other half I was sitting in traffic. Plus I got radared (on the autobahn) in a section that was 100kph. I just happened to be on a motorcycle and they didn't care about me. They stopped the Porsche behind me. Please do not make broad sweeping allegations. Yes, we have our issues (some bad roads and some silly laws). But we also have some great places to enjoy a performance car or SUV (SAV if you believe BMW). Europe is not all autobahn. The autobahn makes up only a small portion of the roads in Europe. My opinion is that the X5M is complete overkill. That is exactly why I bought it. And plan on making it faster. Why? Because I can. Welcome to America. |
