Different wheels--different mileages

I recently swap out 19” to 20” wheels; I noticed my mileage log differently.

In the past with the 19” wheels, I was logging 8.1 miles one way to work, now the X5 is showing 8.3 miles on the same route with 20".

I’m thinking the difference is going to stack up with more mileage, is it something I can reflash or recalibrate the system?

Anyone else that changed out their wheels had notice the difference in mileage?

do the math:

255*.5 = 127.5
275*.4 = 110
315*.35 = 110.25

new tires are smaller so the distance is larger - makes perfect sense.

now post pics of those 299's

Once the aero kit and brembos are on I'll post pics.

Can I reflash or recalibrate the software for the new tire size?!?

Although the increase in mileage probably shouldn't be ignored, I wouldn't stress about it too much. You should only see about 1.3% higher mileage than you would expect with your older tires or around 130 extra miles every 10000. I'm sure the service center can get it fixed next time you are in for an oil change.

So the new wheels revolve about 8 or 9 revolutions more per mile than the old ones.

8.1 miles will be 73 more revolutions. This is just over 0.1 mile. If you were at 8.14 previously, this extra 0.1 could get you to 8.3. (depending on the hysteresis in the odo increment)

Yes, you will 'burn through' your 50k warranty faster.

But doesn't the car handle like crap with 20" rims and 35 profiles???

Yup, the 20" is very nice. 19" was a bit soft for me, this set up is just right
Oh yeah, I'm selling the 19" if anyone is interested. $1500 + shipping
