X5 vs New Porsche Cayenne
Anyway, I was for sure getting another X5 until I did some more reading on the new Cayenne and now I'm not so sure... What do you all think?

I read a review of the new Cayenne last weekend and it seems to be outperformed by the X5 in regards to handling but I suppose the Turbo angine can make up for this

i'm sure if u compare Cayenne Turbo to X5 of course the Cayenne Turbo is a better car. however, even a loaded X5M is still cheaper than Cayenne Turbo and a X5 35i & 50i will still be cheaper than Cayenne & Cayenne S. all comes down to ur budget i guess.
i was going to wait for the new Cayenne but we've been driving the Current Cayenne S & Turbo since 2004 so i'm going to try the X5 now. btw, u'll be able to get a good discount within a year on the new Cayenne then buying it fresh this summer. keep that in mind... |

I don't appreciate how many parts are 'shared' between volkswagon and porsche....kind of like the toyota camry and lexus es 300 crap years ago. The Toureg and Camry benefit. Which brand/vehicle were those parts originally designed and built for and which quality standard?
Important to me also was the local Porsche stealor was a stick their thumb in your eye kind of service folks too. Lastly, only from a certain angle, the pepper does not now look like a minivan utility vehicle. |

It does look better than the previous model but, I still don't love it. Last edited by hotrod2448; 05-17-2010 at 10:49 AM. |

IMHO. No diesel? No Cayenne. It was not on my list of possibilities.

they make good cars, but they're being too cheap to their customers. |

it has the 3.0 TDI from the Audi Q7 at 240BHP and 550Nm of torque not that impressive for a Porsche but it gets 'great' mpg...

My wife has a 2009 Cayenne GTS a few months back. It was pretty loaded, 3 months old, and with less thank 3K miles on it. Sticker was 95K, I picked it up for 70K. So I can personally attest to options not meaning squat on resale. On the other hand almost everthing on the Porsche is an option - I'm surprised it comes with a steering wheel as standard
![]() Having said that I do like some of the available options on the Cayenne such as the heated windshield. I loved that feature on the Range Rover as it made a huge difference with snow/ice buildup when driving up to the mountains. Wish it was available on the X5. I do prefer the iDrive to the Porsche PCM touchscreen - maybe I'm just used to it. And the X5's heads up display is awesome. And nothing but nothing bets the BMW multi-contour seats I do wish the X5M came with 19inch all seasons as options (the 2011 Cayenne comes with them standard). I know they are no substitute for true snow tires, but they have been just fine for me on my 07 4.8i through some pretty nasty snowstorms, and certainly better than the huge 20 inch summer tires on the X5 M.

I pondered the same thing and have decided that it is not that I necessarily want a cayenne...i want something different! If I had a cayenne and the x5 was all new i would be tempted to get an x5. When laying out the cash to lease I feel the need to change vehicles, since that's what i am essentially paying to do. My porsche dealer is like a porcupine....small and full of pricks. On top of that i can not yet afford a cayenne turbo, which is the only one i realllllllly like. So....decision made.
