Essentially, I drive quite a bit through the mountain passes here in Montana for spring/summer skiing. Because of this, I've done a summer/winter set on my previous X5s. On this car I'm departing from my usual 2 sets and going with the Conti ExtremeContact DWS all seasons. If you read the reviews on these, they are extremely good tires with very quiet ride and long tread life. I'll get close to 40-45k from these tires for the full term of the lease, and I'll switch back to the OEMs for lease return.
As far as camber/toe, do a search on these forums or the bimmerfest forums. Without going into too much detail, the X5s have a -1.5-2.5 camber (its the slanted // \\ look of the tires from the rear) setup that's done to give them better handling under aggressive cornering. This performance isn't needed unless you're on a racetrack and it comes at the expense of inner tread wear. All I'm doing is going towards the less negative camber, which will give me added tread life without any noticeable deterioration of cornering ability.
