there you go shouldnt hear anymore about that mistake! anymore cameras on this thing is just a waste of cameras, because if you cant get it done with three carmeras... you need to buy a lexus that parks itself.

i was worried that the wide low profile tires on the 214 rims would have a larger effect on the mpg of the suv; however, it appears that it doesnt effect it too much.

Sorry didn't mean to give you a hard time. I agree with you that side view doesn't seem that useful. I don't even use the top view much although really do like the rear view camera (which I didn't have on my last X).

In any case, your X5 looks great.

I too haven't noticed much of an effect of the larger wheels (I have 21s) on gas mileage.

Side views are going to be a late model year option. I tried to order them on my 35d also.

My car has been in "order" status for close to 3 weeks now on BMWNA's website. It's all in there, it's just not hit production.

I'm wondering if I should switch from the 20" 214 wheels I ordered. Anyone have any suggestions?

Lower profile tires, and lighter wheels should actually have a positive effect on MPG. But, it would take a controlled conditions experiment to tell the difference.

I'd guess they give you a 2% advantage in MPG, as rotating mass is far more important than static mass.

Personally, I've not reset my 35d's trip computer since new. After 5,600 problem plagued miles I've averaged 19.8 miles per gallon- mixed. BMWNA is buying my 35d back, and replacing it with a 2011. My vehicle has gone through two main computers, which may have contribute to a lower fuel economy. I'm really not sure, but the computer due control fuel mixtures, etc. The lowest I've averaged in strict city driving is about 18 mpg. I drive normally, with 1 or 2 full throttle accelerations per tank, if I had to guess.

I have the standard (and heavy) 18" with the high profile bridgestone tires.

On 500 mile freeway trips I can average 25 to 26 mpg, without much trouble at around 80 miles per hour (with a fully loaded vehicle).

So for the US, how are they getting that camera around the yellow-reflector requirement?

I would think that the camera still goes into the same spot, and they just use a shorter reflector.

Looking at the pics.

It appears the US orange reflectors would be in the way of the sideview camera placement. Am I see this correctly?
