Ok so my wheels are at the paintshop now. I wanted the EXACT same finish as that. I told him I wanted "satin". He had not clue what I meant so I showed him the picture of your car and explained to him I want 3% satin. He looked at me like I was crazy. He has no idea what 3% satin means. He said he would paint the wheels black and then either clear them with gloss, matte, or ultra matte clear? So I told him to do it matte I know its not going to turn out right. I wish there was a definitive way of asking for a satin black finish but there are so many different texture gradients.

That is one clean X5.
It's got some classy mod, without trashing the brand.
That's how people should mod a bimmer.
Most heavily modded bimmers I've seen looks like Japanese cars.

OK here goes. I rang my painter and he said this. Black was normal wheel paint . Clear coat was normal gloss dulled down with a flattening agent called ALSA which apparently is an American product. If you apply 4% of this Alsa to the clear coat you get full Matt Black. 2% gives you Satin Black. Mine is 3%. The reason he uses this Alsa product is so he can control how Matt the overall look becomes by applying more or less of it. Hope this helps.

Does this make more sense. I apologise as my description may have led you in the wrong direction initially

Cheers and thanks. I agree, you can OVERDO a car so easily. Japanese and asians are very good at it but I understand, because thats what they like. I personally like to keep the natural lines of the car and just enhance them with as few mods as possible like yourself.

Cheers and Thanks

Yep the car looks menacing!... as you said "not looking like any other X5"!... One question is this white... or its lighting of the pic?... if its a MOD its really good... the car looks going towards grey!... :-)

Car looks great.
Any problems with the 30mm spacers? I'm told it's not all that legal in Aus, more concerns with ride and handling.

Colour is Moonstone (Individual). Moonstone is awesome in sunlight as its slightly metallic and different hues come out in different lighting conditions, but can look like undercoat on a cloudy day (See attached picture)

Mods are:-

- Lowered using H&R 2.00"(F) & 1.20"(R)
- 30mm H&R Spacers all round
- Colour Coded almost everything
- Black Mesh & Black Kidney Grills
- Tinted Windows (30%)
- Painted 214's

Am thinking about tinting back lights or buying some of the LED ones Iv seen kicking around on eBay.

That's about it really.

Thanks for looking !!
