How hard is it to sale a car to private party? What things do we need to watch out for? I'm looking to sale my 4.8 too. Pretty similar to yours 4.8blackx5, but with more mileage.

the biggest issue is that you dont who your dealing with. Not mentioning if you are indeed going to get a fair value for your car. Mine is hardly driven, and for me to sell it to a dealer is a kill, so at this point, Im not sure if cars.com, ebay or craigslist is the right place.

I posted my last vehicle on autotrader.com and sold it within a week. I think it was $15 to list it for a month with 5 pictures. To get market value, I searched KBB, Edmunds, and several online listings for all similar vehicles anywhere in the country. Matched up prices and added a little wiggle room to get what I wanted.

As UCrew the Owner, noted, one has to be a PremoMember to sell stuff here; a reasonable entry to do that, imo. And, it supports the site!

As for flogging Xs here: this isn't the best venue, imo, as 90% of the readers/posters have one.

I would use the tips/avenues posted previously, and just keep the joy riders out of your car. Common Sense should prevail.
Good luck on the sale, mD

Autotrader and Cars.com and even Ebay may help get the most advertising. Just price it right and hopefully it'll go.

I am not sure if they still have it but cars.com used to have a great deal. $59.99 for three months with a full refund if you don't sell by the end of 3 months.

Having sold many cars via the internet I have one work of caution. Beware of anyone that has a check for a few grand over your asking price, it is a very common scan and a lot of folks fall for it. The buyer will make up a story about another car falling through and not wanting to go through the hassle of getting a new bank check. They give you the bank check, and ask for cash for the difference on the day they pick up the car. Sounds crazy but people fall for it all of the time. I guess a lot of peopel think bank checks are safe but they can be just as bad as a personal check. Every time I try to sell a car on the internet someone tries this scam.
