Access to 3rd row with car seats in the 2nd row?

Hello everyone. It's been a while. I got rid of my 06 X5 a few years ago and now I may be coming back! I have my eye on a 2011 5.0....

Quick question for those of you with 3rd row option and 2 car (baby) seats in the 2nd row (on the outsides).

I noticed at the dealership that the second row moves forward without collapsing the seat back. Does this mean that you could successfully move the second row seat forward with a car seat installed in order to access the 3rd row?

Thanks!

I doubt it. I have the third row. To get to it, the second row slides forward then seat cushion tilts forward. Would not think you could have a car seat there. I have to move the booster seat when I do it. Best way to check is to go to dealer with you car seat and see.

Npoe - unless you keep the car seats on the "60" portion - the larger bench but doubt you'll fit 2 in that spot. The 3rd row is really useless... so if your thinking someone will be spending alot of time there, I'd look elsewhere.

The 2nd row seats only move forward and backwards a little bit. I'm guessing 6" at most. If you don't collapse the seat, there's no way to get back there from the back doors.

If the 3rd row seats are up, you'll have better luck getting in through the trunk by climbing over the seats.

ive seen someone leave half the 3rd row down and have the kid climb into his seat through the trunk leaving the 2nd row in tact. Same way out.

I can't see any other to do this. There is not a lot of space to get into the 3rd row seats anyway and if the 2nd row has car seats on them....

I think what Stockguru meant was that one of the 3rd row seats were up and the other 3rd row seat was down. This way, a kid can climb in and out of it via the truck. Then the 2 car seats in the 2nd row are left untouched. Good thinking. That's what I'll have that extra passenger do when the time comes.

Yup. Though, if you need both seats in the 3rd row, then you're really gonna have to take down one of the car seats in the 2nd row
