Rear climate - noisy and cold?

My 2011 X has the rear climate option and I must be a rookie.

Even though I have the rear temps set up high, the air conditioner is very loud and you can feel cold air through the center of the car (iDrive controller), arm rest, etc.

Tonight I finally shut off the rear climate to restore peace in the car. The problem seemed to get worse as the humidity and temps increased here the last week.

I'm obviously not understanding something...

There is a setting under climate control to match the rear climate to the drivers. Should keep things in sync until someone touches it. You can also turn off from IDrive there. Annoyed me before I noticed this option, the back was high and full blast while the front was on low.

I have a 2010 and set the rear on manual when no one is in the rear.
You can set the fan speed to low that way.
I leave the Idrive setting alone so the rear passengers can adjust it
themselves - kinda why I bought it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The rear controls will override the Idrive setting, so you can sync them in Idrive when alone. When the rear passengers want to change the setting they can do so without further adjustments in the Idrive. To resync again you have to go back into Idrive. It's nice for kids that don't know how to use the controls.

I just wish you could sync the front passenger side too.
