E70 X5 4.8I - Low Demand SUV?
I was originally looking for a 06 4.8Is, but have since switched my attention to a 2007 X5 4.8I. I've been doing some light car research and I'm finding the prices of what dealers asking far off than what KBB, or Nada Guide is indicating for these cars. Were there simply too mass produced, and have low demand due to V8? For example I found 07 X5 4.8I with only 16K. Kbb indicates this car should be sold at around 45K. The dealer is only asking 38K, and with little elbow grease, you can take the car home probably at around 36K. I'm finding many of these deals, and even better with private sellers. Also the same cars keep coming back to Ebay week after week. I just want to make sure I'm not going to be buying something I'l be stock with for a while. Did the E70 never grow on people or is it the combo of high supply, low demand, bad economy and the V8 really puts this car's resale value super low? |

KBB is notoriously high for cars like this - virtually never even close. My 5-series has a retail KBB of about 3-4k higher than asking prices I've seen (that sit for months at dealers).

KBB, Edmunds, etc are jokes. They represent wishful thinking, and not actual market data (despite their marketing fluff)
I don't think anyone can determine that an 07 4.8 is a 'low demand' car and hence the prices are such....KBB is just not accurate, and ALL used cars- especially over 30k- have been depressed for the last 2 years (in general). |

OP what options are included? What color combo? That will have impact on price as well.

They are in demand around my neck of the woods but then again we have ugly winters and everyone drives a truck with a v8. I just turned mine in and the dealer was salivating at the opportunity to turn around and sell it. A guy actually came up to me in the lot when I handed over the keys and asked me if it was mine and if I had any issues with it. X5's are the easiest for the local dealers to move used ( or so two salesman from different dealers have told me). Once again...maybe it isn't the same in warmer climates.

First-year model after the redesign... More issues than usual... Low demand.

If you're unsure re:the used car value, have a 'friendy' dealer check recent 'sold' prices at an influential, local auto auction. We're near a Manheim Auto Auction, and their 'sold' prices pretty well set the wholesale prices in this four county area.

Great miles, loaded out. Pull the trigger if it feels right. I'm guessing it's not a CPO based on the price so make sure you get a warranty.

Yeah no CPO, just regular warranty and only a year left on it.
