Daytime Running Lights Failure

I've been seeing a few X5's on the road that have their driver-side/left lights completely out (in the day) and was just thinking to myself that this shouldn't be an issue with such a relatively new car. Even if it was an 07, should lights be going out within 4 years? Then I thought, "Glad my X5 is ok". Then today the message "Left daytime running lights failure" appeared and I joined the "one-eye pirate X5 club".

Does anyone know if this is covered under warranty (don't have that information redily available). How much does it cost to have it replaced? (This is the corona rings, not the actual headlights).

Yes it is covered under the maintenance plan, not warranty (== Free within first 48 mo or 50K miles).

I had both of mine replaced - first after 24 months, second after 30 months (2 days prior to turning lease in )

Thanks Alexmish.

So it sounds like the lifetime of these lights aren't that long.
