New member :: 2011 X5 40d :: pics & video

Hey all,

I just wanted to share some shots of X5. I've had it for 1 week now and am very pleased with the way that the vehicle performs. It is a night and day difference from the M3, but still offers some good driving characteristics, can handle the Swiss winters, and the mpg improvement is shocking.

I was asked to show the euro headlights, so I've included a link to a video that my brother shot of the car starting up, as well as some night driving with the adaptive headlights, adaptive drive, and the head up display. I apologize in advance for the music. He was controlling the stereo and had it cranked. Anyhow, it's a diesel, so it's not like you will be missing out on some quality engine and exhaust sounds. To make amends, I'm including a link to a video of my former M3.

DRL

Nice Ride, I wish the US market got the LED DRLs.

I have a 11 X5, and I'm wondering if I can retrofit the European headlight assembly to a US spec car?

Looks like some fun roads you have there. I also like the action shot of you getting out.

Are those the auto-high beams you're showing or just the headlights that move with steering?

Thanks for the positive feedback. For the color combo, I would have preferred an alpine white exterior. However, the Swiss are quite conservative, and the dealer said that current trend with white cars is on the way out. I think the flash on the camera made the interior look much lighter than it really is. I'll have to see if I can get a better shot of the wood and leather.

Not sure about retrofitting the headlights. To be honest, I wasn't aware there was a difference until it was pointed out on this forum. I had only noticed a change in the color.

Was showing the lights moving with the steering.

I'm keen on getting the running boards installed soon, and a set of the 215 wheels. After those changes, it will be where I want it. I just turned 30, so hopefully I've developed some immunity to the "mod bug."

Several thousand miles.

It's not for sale in the US/Canada but is in the rest of the world.

Congrats on the new ride. As nice as it is, I would really love to have that e46 M3. The rear diffuser and CSL deck lid look great.
