09 X5: How to turn on ambient lighting?

Hello, I have the premium pack and the options list states I have the ambient lighting package. however its not turned on in the interior. Can anbody help with how I turn it on? I cannot find the button or find it in the owners manual....

I don't think there is on/off switch. If you park in a REALLY dark place, you will notice red lights in the footwells and around the door handles. There are also red lights near the SOS button that shine down and faintly illuminate the shifter area....

I think that is about it for the "ambient" lighting feature.....

Yeah the E53 ambient lighting used to be much brighter / noticeable than in the E70. But you are correct, those attributes you listed are the ambient lighting feature..

Supposed to be the map pockets in the door panels also. On my Mini Cooper S conv. there is a switch to change the colors! Blue to pink to purple to red.

ambient lighting is supposed to include the lights in the door handles outside too no (see my avatar)? The lights inside are amber/orange... shouldn't be that hard to notice at night.
