Keep these 22" or go with 22" M style? See pics

I've had my current wheels for about 1.5 - 2 years now and I want a little change. Do you think I should keep the current 22" wheels, get them powder-coated matte black, get a new set of 22" M series style (see pics) or another wheel (please let me know which)?

Current wheels:

22" M-style wheels (20's in pic)

Are you sure that the wheels pictured are 22"? Did they make two sizes of those wheels? Those look like 299Ms, which are 20". At least when I've seen them listed on ebay they say that they're 20". Roveractive is usually pretty accurate with his listings.

Doesn't it look like there's a lot more rubber around the wheel pictured than on the ones on your car?

barja,

You're right, those are 20" but the OP noted above the picture "20's in pic".

I vote 20" M style, but I'm biased

if you do end up keeping yours and making them matte black, i'd say also do your grille in that color

The current ones look great. I'm not a fan of matte black wheels. Although they look great up close, from a distance, it looks like there's a void where your wheels should be unless that's the look you want.

I think the above pic provided by skinnedy should make your decision much easier. The M wheel looks great, with your painted fenders your truck would look sick and original. lose the 06 look of your truck although that look is also unique, have never seen it before and get the M wheels. keep posted. just my 2 cents.

Personally, I don't like black wheels on a grey car; I think they look better on black cars -- but that's just me. I would go with the new wheels. It would make you feel like you bought a new car every time you walked up to it. I don't think that just painting the old ones black would do that.

I want to add a big HOWEVER here: If you're married, and you're 'buying new wheels' instead of 'painting the old wheels and buying a new sofa'. I CHANGE MY VOTE!!! [Yes, my sofa cost more than OEM wheels+tires -- and my adaptive drive thrown in there too.] I may love my car, but the sofa? Ahhh... I am a girl you know. Don't mess with a girl and her sofa.

I want new wheels, and I can get them because, well, I already have the perfect sofa . Now I just have to find the perfect wheels...

Thanks for the replies and votes guys and gals!

I'm not a big fan of black wheels and my fiancee isn't either. I thought we could try it out if you guys all thought it would look great, but that's not the case so I'll cross that option out.

The picture of the M style wheel is a 20" but it was just a generic pic I found online. The wheel shop says I can use my current tires with the new 22" wheels so it would have the same amount of rubber on there. I am a fan of keeping a relatively OEM look as opposed to getting very aftermarket style wheels.

barbja - this wouldn't replace the sofa although I am saving up for the wedding. I don't think this will break the bank though (I'm getting quotes of $1200 cash installed from a local wheel shop with my own tires or $1100 shipped from another shop). I like the idea of feeling I'm going into a new car though because I'm kinda bored with the current look, but I love my truck so I'm not looking to get a new car.

Hmmm.... decisions decisions. I'll wait a little longer before deciding. Thanks for the opinions everybody and please keep them coming
