Hello from new E70 user and question about NAV
Hello all !
I am here for some good amount of time with my old and good E53 2001 3.0L I did many mods on it but now time has come and I decided to get E70. Actually I already got one, just waiting for the delivery. It is used, 2007, 3.0L. I know many ppl may say that it would be better to have 2008 at least but I got amazing deal down here in Canada. Also I have a plans to keep this one for my GF and in 2 years get new E70 2012 ![]() I have a question which I am sure some one can answer. My E70 comes with no NAV option. I already found and got good deal for navigation kit (factory set with screen, nav computer and all other parts needed). I will be getting this kit in a week or so and planing to install it on my car. In the same time I know that it (navigation computer) has to be programmed to match with my car. My question is: Should I be installing navigation computer and screen (all kit) first and after drive to my dealer and ask him to program it to match my car or I should first bring the navigation kit to the dealer in prior of installing it and ask dealer to program it while giving him my VIN number ? This is tricky for me because I assume once I install navigation kit even my screen wont work until everything is programmed so I will have to scedule trip to the dealer same day or so, unless it can be programmed separatelly from vehicle. Please answer this question if some one know the answer. And once I get my baby I will post pics ![]() For now I am reading all E70 subforum in order to avoid asking stupid questions in the future here. |

Not sure if i follow you but in order for the dealer to code it to your Vin # and car configuration it needs to be installed first.
Check with your dealer first to make sure they are capable of doing the coding on this retrofit. Not all retrofits are offered in all countries. |

I know seemless integration is nice and the preferred way to go, but having and using the BMW NAV for a couple of years now I can tell you there are far better aftermarket options out there from Garmin and others.
