Please help tonight! Rear window stuck and have a road trip tommorrow

We got rear windows tints done today on our 09 X5. We're not supposed to put the rear windows down for 1 week. Well, I used they key to open the windows walking up the car (forgot about the 1 week thing). One of the rear windows gets stuck going up 1\2 way and just sits there. If I apply gentle force it wont go up any further. If i restart the car then it will go all the way down. Put it up then it just gets stuck 1\2 way again.

We're taking the kids up north with family tomorrow. Now we cannot take our new X5. This sucks Any help please????

On a side note: pretty damn cheap by BMW to NOT include tinted windows on an SUV. Even the cheapest cars in the world include tint on minvans and SUV. Lame.

You are hitting the pinch protection feature (perhaps.) I know the 2010 models came with an emergency close feature which overrides the pinch protection feature. Here is what the docs say about it:

>>>
1. Pull the switch beyond the resistance point and hold. The pinch protection system is limited and the window opens slightly if the closing force exceeds a certain value.

2. Pull the switch beyond the resistance point and hold again within approx. 4 seconds. The window closes without the pinch protection system.

This can be found on page 38 of the online manual.

Please do this at your own risk as this could potentially damage something in the window mechanism since there is tint material involved. I am just letting you know what the 2010 manual says about forcing the window to close.

Good luck.

Good suggestion. I went and tried it, but no luck. Played around for 3 hours now and the window gets stuck about 1\2 way up and wont budge any further.

What's odd is the window will go down like normal. But as soon as I try to have it go up, it gets resistance and moves super slow. It starts out slow, then gradually slows to a halt. Then it will lock and not go up or down any longer. If I wait 5 min, restart the car, then it will allow me to roll it down then get stuck on the way up.

This sucks.
