Diesel Performance Software

Anyone have an ECU flash for the X5 diesel. Seems like every F350 I see gets flashed so why can we do the same.

Just KNOW that you will have no driveline warranty after you modify the software.

Do not beleive anything you read about "they can't be detected" or "Moss Magnussen requires they prove the flash caused the damage".... The CAN tell, and they WILL forensically dissect the DDE if there is a major issue.

I would only go with a mod that fully incorporated all of the factory protections (knock sensing, boost control, etc, etc.)

I'm not sure I agree with this. I don't think the average dealer nor BMW NA wants to get into litigation with a consumer over possible software tampering. It far easier for them to simply honor the warranty. Most BMW owners are probably not going sit back while their dealer leaves them with problems over something so pithy.

Completely disagree. BMW added tell tale flags to their software so that they could better detect software changes. That was only done to limit their warranty cost exposure, for those problems that they feel are due to any changes. That doesn't mean that they are going to deny warranty on a wiper or unrelated system (purely as an example) but they have been consistent in not paying warranty for problems that owners cause. See the E90 boards for the history of 335 modifications and warranty impact.

I find it laughable that someone thinks BMW will just pay a warranty claim to avoid a potential lawsuit. Amazingly naive statement.

The fact is that BMW will BONUS techs that detect DME tampering during warranty claims....
