How much to replace battery?

My X5 never had any battery drain issues. But now that it has close to 50k miles, I wonder if I should replace the bettery for peace of mind. How long should X5 battery last? If replacing it (not with warranty cause it's working fine), how much should I expect to pay?

At dlr, $300- $400+, from memory of previous postings here...
a DIY takes less than 30 mins, and exact replacements, of several
brands, can be found at Batteries Plus, AutoZone, et al, for $100
to $125.

There are several good DIY step by step posts, with pics, if you
use Search Tab. It's a cake job.

5 yrs on your batt: a new one will probably cure your ills.

I rec'd using a low amp "charger" on your new battery for a day or
so, before install as most "new batteries" off the shelf have been sitting
and/or get a hot shot, but are not fully charged, imo.

Thanks for info.

I used to change battery on my previous BMWs, easy DIY. I wonder if there is any special precaustions for E70 since it's got way more electronics than all my previous BMWs?

Also, does anyone know the spec of our battery? Can the charge system work well with more powerful battery? Or does it even matter?

Dunno steps/ratings on E70...someone will give you some pointers there, and it may be on previous thread, in Search.

One more question...I have maintenance to 100k and warranty (3rd party) up to 100k. I wonder if maintenance covers battery? It sure sounds logical that it should...

Worth asking; I would think it's covered under BMW's plan, but maybe not under a 3rd party plan.
