For those who run spacers with their 20/21s and change out to winter 18/19s..

do you keep your spacers on with your winter set up? specifically spacers with the rear wheels?

it's mostly for looks, so given you're going to a smaller wheel... I'd say why not leave spacers on?

I plan to. However I have 20" winter wheels (michelin alpin) and I have heard the farther you take the wheel towards the lip of the wheel well, the greater chance you'll have road debris marks on your rocker panels.

I run a 21" summer and 20" for winter. Both with spacers. No issues. I voered the bottom part of the car with 3M.

20's in the summer with 15mm spacers, 19's in the winter with the same spacers, spacers are only in the rear though, I don't run anything up front.

Thanks all. I think I'll leave them on. I'm using 20mm spacers so the change from 20 to 19s with wheel flares will most likely give the X a good look for winter.

I run 19's with 255's in the winter. I have the mongo huge mudflaps (WY = lots of small granite shards on chipseal roads = bad for boat). I run 30mm spacers in the rear in the winter, and 12mm up front. In the summer, I put the 20's back on and move the 12mm spacers to the rear, with nothing in the front.

Pardon my ignorance, but how do spacers work? I have a 3.5d with the SA / 20" wheel package coming in a few weeks. I plan to put an 18" wheel/tire set on for winter, but am concerned about it really diminishing the look of the vehicle, especially with the flares. I assume the spacers push the wheels out towards the edges of the X5?
