it's common for 4x4 owners to aftermarket upgrade their factory forbie suspensions, so you could probably do the same for your X5.

A quick google finds at least X5 Suspension which might be what you want ...

However ...
- I've not done this myself, so can't say how your ride dynamics might change.
- not sure if such mods are approved by your BMW service center (ie it might invalidate any factory warranty you have)
- insurance typically costs extra for a modified car.

Syhr.

Trade it in? Take a huge loss on the trade-in, then pay the markup for another one? C'mon people, can we not get stupid replies like this? That is like when people talk about supercharging a 540i and then someone telling them they should have just gotten an M5. Just because a sport or adaptive suspension comes from the factory doesn't always make it the best of the best. The aftermarket is a billion dollar plus a year industry, so there are alternatives...lets hear those, not the "sell it" or "shoulda woulda coulda" answers.

Trade you in.

The original question was ridiculous and seriously open-ended.
If you can't tell the tone of my reply then don't get all serious and butt-hurt.

Easiest way to improve the driving experience would probably be to get some lighter wheels..

less corner weight = better handling, acceleration, deceleration

While I may be low maintenance, I'd love to be a lighter and faster version of myself. I'm definately a 740iL, not an M3.

The question was pretty direct....how can he modify what he already owns. I didnt see a single hint of asking for opinions on what to trade it in for. I'm butt hurt, I just think it's stupid when people throw out financially irresponsible options. There is a thread on here w/ a guy wanting to supercharger his 4.8is for 20k, so that'd be like you telling him to just go buy the 100k X5M. Answer the question w/ aftermarket suspension choices, not whole vehicle changes.

Best way for 99% of the drivers to improve handling is to take a performance driving school.

There's only so much you can do with a 5,000+ lb vehicle.

You still don't get it. Surprised you responded in the same manner as before.
Nothing you can do for some people...

100%. I did the same thing w/ my M5 at Bremerton Raceway w/ the Porsche Car Club of America....definately a good time.
