20"X10" Bayern Mesh Wheels

I love the look of these wheels as I put them on my older E39 in 18". However, my question concerns tire sizes for the 20 X 10 wheels on my E70. I know that I could go 275/40/20 Toyos all around. But will 315/35/20 tires fit the 20 X 10 wheels for the rear and let me use a staggered fitment? Most wheel/tire sites, Tire Rack and Buy Wheels Today, show that you need 20 X 10.5 to make it work. But has anybody tried it?

Thanks a bunch in advance!

No, it will NOT work. Actually I researched, most common tire brands recommend 20x11, 20x10.5 is minimum width. 295 will work great with 20x10 but 315's look MUCH better (I had both).

All tire manufacturers will list min and max wheel widths for their tires. Just look up the tire you are looking at and see what Tim it needs. You most likely will need to go to 305 or 295 width for a 10" wheel though.

I am going to have to say ya it will work, not ideal but it will work.

I had a set of 315/30-18 on my 18x10.5 and the fit was great so with an extra 5% height I can't see the 1/2 being an issue.

What will work and what the book says are very different things, I would do it.

I've had 315/35/20s toyo proxies on a 20x10 rim and they work. Tire manufacturer might not recommend it but it will work no problem. It offers great curb protection.

Just ask the vdub guys - they would but a 225/35 on a 10.5 inch rim - talk about no curb protection!

I would go with the 295/40's on 10's - close to the width and diameter of the 315's and approved for the wheel - you can certainly make the 315's on the wheel, but it will tend to wear the center of the tire a little early and certainly will void any tire warranty (not that tire warranties are worth much!).
